I've read that many places. Apparently very little violence. Mostly people were trying to survive without enough help from the government. I have a very interesting blog entry from my boss who went down to help answer a call center there. Hundreds of thousands of people are given one number to reach the Red Cross for money, but they can't get through. They try for days on end, but no luck. So they call 211(the line she was answering) and complain. Nothing she could do about it. She spoke with about 2 people who ever got through to the number and several hundred who couldn't. Apparently, in the meantime, crowds of people lined up around various support sights. The Red Cross would come by and give out debit cards with like 200 dollars on them, but they would only have 200 of them and there were thousands of people. They continued to do this, but switch spots because there would have been a riot otherwise. So there has been very little support from all the millions of dollars that people have been donating.People are rightfully pissed at the Red Cross which could easily pay for another phone line and some more staf to take there calls.
