I have to admit that a large part of me leans heavily towards the notion of a Universe Without Design. Growing up Muslim, I was taught that creation was proof enough of God's existence, but I experienced my first doubts when I learned about hermaphrodites. Then, I worked for an organization that provided respite care for children with disabilities, and I learned about a young teen who was born with a condition that compelled her to vomit 100 times a day. And she wasn't the only one. I remember thinking, "What is this?" The seeds of agnosticism planted right there.

Oh, and yet another reason I won't be joining the military. (Yes, over the years I have considered it numerous times.)

You really should try agnosticism first. It's neat! You get to piss off both the atheists and theists for being "undecisive". Then you get to patiently (one hopes) explain to them that being willing to admit you don't know something isn't actually a weakness... Fun!

Oh, I am an agnostic now. Hence, the "Maybe-Atheist." I think the non existence of a god makes more sense than the existence of a god (or gods), but I am still inclined to believe that some "supernatural" things can happen. There is so much that we cannot explain yet. So much we do not understand.

A-ha. I tend to be atheist in most respects -- I don't think we can really know, without some deified visitation (but then, where would faith be?)

I almost joined the Army when Pete Jr. disqualified me. I even had a Ranger contract set up... I think my non-Armyness will turn out to be a good thing though, in the end.

I'm glad, too. You don't want your babies to be all sick because of some chemicals you ingested during one of The Wars.

I still wish I could go to Boot Camp, though. Billy Blanks will have to do.
