I think there should be a new punctuation mark - one that conveys the emotion that lies somewhere between "." and "!"

Hmm; I'm no good at design. For now I'll just use ".!" until something more inspired strikes me.

And by the way, I think the new punctuation mark should be called an "emphatic."

how about replacing the little dot at the bottom with a comma? like taking those uppity colons down a notch into "semi-" status.
